Military under the command of Lt. Col. Gustaf Agus Irianto, shot ten people dead, accusing them of being members of the Free Papua Organisation (OPM). Two survivors of the shooting were arrested, tortured for several days and were eventually tried for treason. Amongst other accusations, it was alleged that they had participated in a raid on Wamena weapons arsenal in April that year, for which eight other men had been arrested at the time. Dua orang korban yang ditembak kemudian ditangkap, disiksa selama beberapa hari dan akhirnya mereka dituduh melakukan makar. Diantara tuduhan lain, terjadi tuduhan bahwa mereka telah berpartisipasi dalam serangan di gudang senjata Wamena pada April tahun itu, dimana 8 orang laki-laki lainnya telah ditangkap.
