Samuel Kogoya (36) was one of the 36 Papuan People’s Front for Rejection of Special Autonomy who were arrested when organising a peaceful protest in Sorong on 19 July 2021. The protest was blocked by the authorities. 35 of the 36 people arrested were released but one remained in custody. Samuel Kogoya remained in detention. The police accused him of leading a group of people to hold protest in police station. He also suffered abrasion on the nose and forhead due to police violence.
