50 political arrests were recorded during the three-month period from October toDecember 2021. Of these, 11 people remain in detention, 36 have been released, and the status of 3 remains unknown.

The vast majority of political arrests during the reporting period related to two key events:

• 34 were connected to the 1 December anniversary of West Papua’s declaration of independence.
• 11 were connected to an attack on 2 September 2021 on Kisor military post in Maybrat regency.
